CVS Trip

img00195-cvs-4-6-091

I was planning on purchasing the Skintimate shave gel (Pay $3.49, get $3.49 in ECBs), 2 bags of Easter grass (Pay $1.58, get $1.58 in ECBs) , and 1 Easter basket (Pay $1.99, get $1.99 in ECBs), but they were out of Easter grass and the baskets were hideous (even if they were free after ECBs!). Here is what I ended up getting:

1 Skintimate shaving gel @ $3.49

1 Jumbo Huggies diapers @ $10.00, used $5.00 MC (no longer available)

Total after coupons: $8.49

Used $6.00 ECBs

Total after coupons and tax: $3.39 (I put this on a giftcard, so total OOP was actually $0); I earned $3.49 in ECBs.

So, how did you do at CVS this week? Leave me a comment and let me know!

CVS Deals – 3/22/09 to 3/28/09

Once again, the deals at CVS are not terrific this week; however, there are a few deals worth taking advantage of (I must admit that ending a sentence with a preposition is one of my biggest pet peeves; but, it’s late, and I’m going to leave it that way:). Here are this week’s deal match-ups for CVS (Thanks to Gaming the System!).

Last week I gave you a CVS scenario that would earn you $4 ECB’s. This week, I’m going to show you several scenarios to use those ECB’s and earn several more ECB’s as well.

Scenario #1
Buy Crest Pro-Health Enamel Care @ $3.49, Get $3.49 ECB’s; use $1.00 MC from 2/08 insert
Buy 2 Campbell’s soup @ B1G1 ($1.49 for 1); use $1/2 here.
Buy 2 Post Trail Mix cereal @ B1G1 ($4.59 for 1); use 2 $2.00/1 here.
Buy Mott’s applesauce 6 pk @ $1.25; use $0.55/1 here.
Subtotal: $4.27
Use $4 ECB’s

Total OOP: $0.27 + tax, earn $3.49 ECB’s

Scenario #2
Buy 3 Pepsi 12 pks @ 3/$11, earn $2.00 ECB’s on 3; use B2G1 here.
Subtotal: $7.33
Use $4 ECB’s

Total OOP: $3.33 + tax, earn $2.00 ECB’s

Scenario #3
Buy Dry Idea Clinical Complete roll on 3.5 oz @ $7.99, earn $5.00 ECB’s; use $2.00/1 here.
Subtotal: $5.99
Use $4.00 ECB’s

Total OOP: $1.99 + tax, earn $5.00 ECB’s

Scenario #4
Buy Schick Quattro for women or Intuition Plus shaver @ $8.99, earn $3.00 ECB’s; use $4.00/1 coupons from 3/22 insert
Subtotal: $4.99
Use $4.00 ECB’s

Total OOP: $0.99 + tax, earn $3.00 ECB’s

All of these scenarios are great for those who are learning how to shop at CVS! Hope that you can try some of these out! Let me know what kind of CVS deals you get this week!

How to Shop at CVS

Shopping at CVS is a great way to get a lot of products for little money. The system for maximizing your savings at CVS is a little complicated, but it is worth the effort to learn. Here is a list of how to get started at CVS:

  1. Apply for a CVS card at the register. This is how you earn ECBs (Extra Care Bucks). It does not cost anything, and the rewards are effective immediately.
  2. Check the monthly and weekly circulars for sale items and ECB deals. The weekly circular is in the Sunday paper (usually – sometimes it is not there for some reason). The weekly sales begin on Sunday and end on Saturday. You will have to pick up the monthly circular in the store.
  3. Make a purchase. Make sure to have your card scanned. If you have purchased items that allow you to receive ECBs, the ECBs will print out at the end of your receipt along with other coupons. ECBs work like cash and there is no minimum purchase.

Here is a scenario from this week:

Dry Idea deodorant @ $2.99; use $2.00 off coupon
Pantene Pro-V shampoo or conditioner @ $3.50
Pantene Pro-V styler @$3.50; use B1 shampoo or conditioner, G1 styler free MC coupon from 3/15 insert

Total: $4.49 OOP
You will get $4 in ECBs to use on your next purchase!

This system is a little more complicated than just purely using coupons, but, once you figure it out, it won’t take much time to plan. In my next CVS post, I will help you figure out what to do with those $4 in ECBs!
